Mission:
I need to relocate 4 cats from Michigan to Cambodia.
I need several MSU veterinary students to help me transport the felines from East Lansing, Michigan to Siem Reap, Cambodia.
What I Need:
People who are caring and compassionate with cats and would like to enjoy travel.
Logistics:
Per airline regulations, 1 person can take 1 cat onboard a plane with a maximum of 4 total in the whole cabin. As such, I will need 2 or 3 students for this trip.
Dates:
I’m flexible around your academic calendar. Ideally, sometime before August 2026.
Felines:
I have 4 domestic cats from 4 to 6 years old. Inside only. 3 female, 1 male. Social. Well behaved.
Travel:
The flights are approximately 30 hours from Detroit to Cambodia.
14 hours from Detroit to Seoul, Korea. A few hours layover. Clear security. Board next flight.
8 hours from Seoul to Bangkok, Thailand. A few hours layover.
1 hour from Bangkok to Siem Reap Cambodia.
Tickets, Visas, & Hotels:
I will pay for economy class main cabin round trip. (This is what I fly.)
I will pay for hotel for 1 week with double occupancy in Cambodia. Transportation to and from airport.
I will pay for the e-Visa to Cambodia. Thai visas are free and available at the airport.
Once we get to Cambodia and my cats are at their new home in the city, you are free to do whatever you would like.
Cambodia:
Siem Reap is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Angkor Wat which is the largest ancient temple complex in the world.
Cambodia is a very friendly country. Very little crime. Police don’t even carry weapons. Monks walk the streets in the morning for alms. It’s very affordable: A very good meal is $15. A regular meal is $5. Beer is 50 cents.
US Dollars come out of the ATM machines. No need to convert money.
Most people will speak some English as it’s a major tourist location.
I have been going to Cambodia for almost 20 years and have a scholarship program for indigent women to go to university. My friends there are happy to introduce you to local Khmer people, food, and community.
Thailand:
Bangkok & Phuket are a 1 hour flight from Cambodia. So you have the opportunity to travel to Thailand if you would like on your own. Bangkok is a major international city with everything to do. Fine dining, shopping, touring, etc… Phuket is primarily a beach resort.
